Never IN Love

Talking to my girl about being IN LOVE and having LOVE for someone and got me thinking... about what exactly is it? Why do we separate the meanings of the two?

Some people say, "I LOVE her but I wasn't IN LOVE with her.." .. okay so I know I'm not the only one who has heard this or even said this themselves... so umm.. what does that mean exactly??

Definition of "In Love" {used as a idioms} - infused with or feeling deep affection or passion; feeling deep affection or passion for (a person, idea, occupation, etc.); enamored of

Definition of "Love" {used as a verb w/ a subject} - to have a profoundly tender, passionate affection for (another person)

So.. umm..

If you LOVE someone you have a profoundly passionate affection for that person ... if you are IN LOVE with someone you feel a deep passionate affection for that person ..

So the only difference is profound or deep affection????

So me being the NERD that I am took a step further and looked up exactly what profound and deep mean..

Profound {adj} - showing intellectual penetration or emotional depth

Deep (adj) - relatively deep or strong

So to me... and correct me if I'm wrong... I'd rather have someone LOVE me with intellectual penetration and emotional depth ... then someone IN LOVE with me relatively deep... .. right???

Did I lose anyone? ... yea.. I know... LOL

In other words... we have been saying it completely WRONG

I'm now changing the saying to "I was IN LOVE with her but I didn't LOVE her.." ..LOL..

  2. I think it is possible to LOVE and not be IN LOVE. i can say i have felt it. I have also had love for somebody, but not be in love. i can say that i have only been IN LOVE once and it surpasses the feeling of just Love or just HAVING love.
