.. I had a very interesting conversation with a friend yesterday... just siting around talking about random things (as friends do) and we started talking about knowing yourself and knowing what you really want...
As you can see... PRIDE and LUST are her "deadly sins"... hmm...

.. I know
.. if I had to admit what sins I indulge in the most... it would be PRIDE (Vanity) and LUST.. You should know yourself, right? I can list off several things that I do well... Why not know your weakness?

..SLOTH..
PRIDE .. is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins .. (lucky me) .. and indeed the ultimate source from which the others arise. ... desire to be more important or attractive than others (check!) ... excessive love of self (check!) ... Vanity and narcissism are prime examples of this sin. (...and..check!)
LUST.. is pretty simple... usually thought of as involving obsessive or excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature. (check.. duh! ... )
I admit I love myself... I admit I can't pass reflections without making sure my hair is in place and my clothes look good... Love thyself, right? I do have the desire to be more important than others... who doesn't... what business person, athlete, model, college student... doesn't want to me at the top of their class... the best in there field? If thats vanity, I'll take that...
And lust... well thats obvious... I have excessive thoughts about beautiful women all the time... who doesn't have desires of a sexual nature.. I'm human right...
.."they" call these "deadly sins" but in reality (to me) they are just human weaknesses... human characteristics even.. that can be indulged without them being extreme.. I except PRIDE and LUST as my human "sins" that I will carry with me, keeping in check ... keeping under quiet surveillance... they are a part of me... and acceptance is necessary to knowing yourself...

Pride and Lust are very complicated sins. Even more so when you own up to them and ACTUALLY know what it is you are doin.
ReplyDeleteLust takes alot outta a person when they are lusting after another.
Pride takes alot out of other people when it gets in the way of you and your actions.
But at the end of the day, I am still me and very good with it.
I do not regret putting my sins on my wrists for the world to see.
